Factors predisposing public tertiary education building projects to risks

Abstract The studies show that risks occur during the construction of projects and affect performance in terms cost, time, quality. However, with growing evidence cost time overruns associated public tertiary education building projects, this paper assessed factors predisposing these to risks. Using survey method, four hundred fifty-two questionnaires were administered consultants, contractors, client representatives across five institutions. research instrument’s reliability value was 0.763 via Cronbach alpha test. Therefore, 452 respondents, 279 retrieved, representing 61.73% return rate, analysed. Furthermore, top three include financial constraints, location project, project type. In contrast, economic requirements, special legal conditions, use are minor factors. respondents had convergent views on eight out eleven except for duration, use. Besides, presented study significant recorded high mean scores, implying suitable parameters measuring Based preceding, provided information could enhance projects.
